Chapter 3 · The Day

Turning modules on and off in Awaken Journal, and putting them in your order

The short answer: open the sidebar, tap the gear at the bottom, then Modules. Each module has a switch: turn To-Do or Finance off and it leaves your sidebar and today's page, with everything in it kept safe for when you switch it back on. Journal always stays on. To change the order, tap the pencil at the top right of the same page and use the ↑ and ↓ arrows. This post shows both, and what changes when you do.

The 30-second version: flip Finance off and its block steps onto a shelf with every entry intact, flip it back on and it returns; Journal stays on, and ↑ puts it first on today's page.

The last post was a map of where everything lives. This one is about making that map yours.

Make Awaken Journal yours: switch modules on, off, and into your order. A soft green light switch.

1 · Where the switches are

Tap ☰ at the top left, then the gear at the bottom of the sidebar. That opens Global Settings. Tap Modules.

You'll see your three modules, one row each, with a switch on the right:

  • To-Do: plan your week with Frogs, Goals and meaningful progress.
  • Journal: capture your thoughts, reflections and memories.
  • Finance: record daily income and expenses alongside your journal.

They're listed in your order, which starts as To-Do, Journal, Finance.

If you ever forget how this page works, tap How to Use Modules at the top. It opens a short reminder.

2 · Switching a module off

Tap the switch next to Finance or To-Do, and the module is gone from two places:

  • its card leaves the sidebar,
  • its block leaves today's page.

Nothing is deleted. Every expense, task and goal stays in your vault, exactly as it was. Switch the module back on and it all comes back where you left it.

So if you track money somewhere else and only want a journal and a to-do list, switch Finance off. If you only want to write, switch both off and Awaken Journal becomes a plain, quiet journal.

Switch Finance off and nothing is deleted: your entries wait for you. A soft green switch flipped to off.

3 · Why Journal always stays on

Journal's switch is locked on. It's the heart of the app: today's page is a journal page first, and the other modules sit around it. An Awaken Journal with no journal would just be a to-do list.

4 · Putting your modules in order

On the same Modules page:

  1. Tap the pencil at the top right. Small ↑ and ↓ arrows appear on each row.
  2. Tap ↑ to move a module up, ↓ to move it down.
  3. Tap the pencil again when you're done. The arrows tuck away.

The order decides how today's page is stacked. Out of the box it's To-Do, then Journal, then Finance. Move Journal to the top and your day opens with your writing first, with your tasks and money below it.

On Android, the sidebar follows your order too, with Reviews always last. On the web app, the sidebar keeps the same order every time: To-Do, Journal, Finance, Reviews.

Tap the pencil, then ↑ to move a module up. Today's page follows your order. Three soft green blocks stacked, one with an up arrow.

5 · Your choices follow your account

Which modules are on, and their order, are saved with your account. Sign in on your phone and on your laptop and both match.

Not the same thing: Journal Sections

Modules are the big blocks. Inside the Journal block are your sections, the headings of your daily page. To add, hide or reorder those, open the sidebar, tap Journal, then Journal Sections. That's a different page and a different post.

Check it yourself

  1. Tap ☰, then the gear, then Modules. You'll see To-Do, Journal and Finance, each with a switch.
  2. Switch Finance off. Its card leaves the sidebar. Switch it back on: it's back, with everything in it.
  3. Tap the pencil, then ↑ on Journal until it's at the top. Go back to today's page: Journal is first.

Quick answers

Does switching a module off delete my entries?

No. It only hides the module. Switch it back on and everything is where you left it.

Can I switch off Journal?

No. Journal is always on, because today's page is built around it.

Where did my Finance (or To-Do) go?

It's switched off. Turn it back on in Global Settings → Modules.

How do I change the order of my modules?

Global Settings → Modules → tap the pencil at the top right, then use ↑ and ↓.

Why didn't my sidebar change order?

On the web app the sidebar keeps a fixed order; your order changes today's page. On Android the sidebar follows your order too.

Is it the same on iPhone?

The iPhone app is being built to the same layout.

Where to go next
